There is so much more learning involved in this journey than I anticipated. It’s not just reading about spaghetti squash and greek yogurt and running, it’s learning how to be an entirely different person. The person I was supposed to be, and would’ve grown up to be had I not spent my life hiding from the world.

SO MUCH THIS. The thing about getting healthier is it ignites all of these “other” things inside.

Back at it…

I spent a weekend in Seattle and spent the subsequent two days recovering and I spent today sipping cocktails with girlfriends and eating some duck confit tots.

On the plus side, I went to CrossFit last night and ran today. So, there’s that.

One of my favorite people has a little weight loss competition/support thing going on and that starts tomorrow. Also, I’m Vegas-bound in June, and nothing motivates me more than knowing there’s a good chance I’ll be in some form of bathing wear in public soon.

So, onward! I’m re-focused and excited.

Today’s WOD

First day back in the classroom after spring break. Long day. I hit up the 4pm class, which I think will be my regular time. It was pretty perfect timing, commute wise.

I was petrified of the WOD all day (yes, I’m now the psycho who checks it in the middle of the night) and it was definitely a killer workout, but I had a good time. I’m continually amazed at how nice everyone is at American River Crossfit, and what a great environment it is.

Anyways, here’s today’s WOD:

In teams of 2, complete:

100 meter walking kettlebell swings (53/35)

25 partner clap pushups

100 weighted squats (45/25)

25 partner clap situps

100 meter waiter’s walking lunges (45/25)

25 partner clap box jumps (24/20)

100 double unders

25 partner wall balls each person (20/14)

100 meter burpee broad jumps

For the exercises with a 100 rep count – only 1 teammate is working at a time.

For the exercises with a 25 rep count – both teammates are working at

the same time/rate.

It was an ass kicker, but I’m SO GLAD I went.

Hipster Paleo: For Anyone Thinking Of Trying CrossFit: Read This

Really interesting article about CrossFit.

READ HERE Great article in Triathlete Magazine

An excellently written and interesting article and all, but what I take away from this is this: CROSSFIT HAS A MASCOT NAMED PUKIE THE CLOWN???? WHAT. THE. FUCK.

In deference to my love of CrossFit I’m trying to…

Mmm, steak. Paleo lunch, ahoy!

First 5K!

Last night, I registered for my first 5K, the Parkway Half Marathon. My dear friend K is running the half marathon and I’m going to do the 5K. If you’re in Sacramento, join us! The Parkway is gorgeous and the marathon supports it’s upkeep. I’m super excited!

Today’s WOD

According to my workout schedule, today should be a run day. But, I’m rescheduling for tomorrow because a) rain is imminent and it’s been a monsoon here in Sacramento and b) I have the most insane Saturday ever and fitting in a run is possible; my scheduled Cross Fit class is not.

That said, I’ll be taking the 5pm CrossFit class today. Here’s the WOD, according to my CrossFit site.

Today’s WOD:

Tabata High Knee’s-8 rnds

Tabata Sit-ups-8 rnds

Tabata Mtn Climbers-8 rnds

Tabata High Knee’s-4 rnds

As far as food goes, here’s what I’ve eaten today:

Breakfast: Eggs!

Lunch: Sushi

Pre-CrossFit snack: cashews, and a tiny bit of dark chocolate (PMS, WHAT?)

Dinner: Tri-tip, asparagus, broccoli

Minus the dark chocolate and a little bit of dairy in the sushi, a pretty good Paleo day.
